How do I volunteer? Anyone wanting to volunteer their time and services should call our Maryland Heights facility at (314) 291-3857 Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm to inquire about our many opportunities, or contact us through this website.

When can I volunteer? Volunteer hours are available Sunday through Friday but only after initial contact with our office.

If I need shelter, can I come to Loaves and Fishes? All individuals seeking shelter at Loaves and Fishes must be referred through the Homeless Hotline. If you are in need of emergency shelter please call the hotline at (314) 802-5444.

Do I qualify for Loaves and Fishes food pantry? Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry is open to seniors (55+) and those individuals on disability on Monday, Thursday and Friday afternoons. Our general public food pantries for low income families and individual are open on Wednesday evenings starting at 6pm and Sunday mornings at 10 am. When does Loaves and Fishes pantry open? Sign in for our pantry for seniors and those on disability begins @ 12:30pm Monday, Thursday and Friday and Food is generally available by 1:30pm. This program is located at our Maryland Heights Facility. Sign in for our Wednesday food pantry in St. Charles begins at 6pm with a hot meal, followed by an optional non-denominational church service @ 7pm and food distribution following the service. Sunday morning pantry sign-in begins at 9:45am and food distribution begins at approximately 11:15 am.

What kinds of IN KIND donations do you take? Loaves and Fishes is currently accepting donations of women and children's clothing, socks and undergarments, canned and dry goods, school supplies, cleaning supplies and hygiene products.

What does Loaves and Fishes need? Currently our shelter is in great need of: Women's Hygiene products, shampoo, toothpaste and toothbrushes, detergent, cleaning products, dish soap, trash can liners, toilet paper and paper towels, towels and washcloths, hand sanitizer, twin-sized sheets, blankets and pillows. Our food pantry wish list includes: Any dry goods, macaroni and cheese, instant potatoes, and rice for example as well as cereals of all kinds, snacks and juices for the children staying in our shelter; canned goods such as vegetables and canned meats like tuna and chicken, soups, pastas, chilies and stews as well as jellies and peanut butter.
