Emergency Housing

Through our Emergency Shelter Program, Loaves and Fishes provides dedicated support to homeless families with minor children. Our goal is to empower clients to improve their financial stability and attain permanent, stable housing.

Emergency Shelter

Our Emergency Shelter offers immediate assistance to families with children who, without intervention, may be experiencing homelessness, living on the streets, in vehicles, or in other unsuitable environments. Through our support, families begin their path toward self-sufficiency.

We develop client-centered, goal-oriented housing plans that are trackable and reinforced through various support services, including life skills training, parenting classes, peer support, addiction and recovery programs, mental health assessments, and connections to mainstream resources.

For children, our focus includes ensuring educational enrollment, meeting nutritional needs, providing counseling services, and creating programs that foster family unity and bonding. Recognizing the importance of stability, our goal is to swiftly transition children into secure living environments where they can thrive academically, emotionally, and socially, free from the stigmatization associated with homelessness.

Educational Programs

Our Educational Programs have played a vital role in providing clients with essential educational support that positively influences their family dynamics and housing stability. These classes are tailored to equip our families with the skills and resources necessary for effective communication, informed decision-making, goal setting and achievement, problem-solving, conflict resolution, financial management, and child care.

1. Life Skills Course: Focuses on developing adaptability and practical skills for daily life, emphasizing communication, conflict resolution, and employment retention.

2. Parenting Workshops: Support residents in managing the stresses associated with homelessness, teaching stress reduction techniques, coping strategies, and alternative disciplinary approaches.

3. Financial Wellness Program: Provides residents with the knowledge to make sound financial decisions, including understanding banking systems and managing checking accounts.

4. Art Therapy Sessions: Offers a creative outlet for those who find it difficult to express emotions verbally, through incorporating art, poetry, music, writing, and acting. Originally designed for children, these sessions have also been embraced by participating parents.
