Henry’s Story: A Place To Call Home
This summer, Henry arrived at our McKelvey Road shelter searching for help and stability. He had been experiencing homelessness while navigating life with a disability — and his wheelchair was broken, making an already difficult situation even harder. Still, Henry came with hope, and our team was ready to support him.
Our Outreach Team immediately provided transportation to our Resource Center, where Henry received essential services, including meals, hygiene supplies, and a safe place to rest. As staff became familiar with Henry’s needs, they noticed that his wheelchair was no longer functional. Without hesitation, our team replaced it — restoring his mobility, independence, and dignity.
With Henry safe and stabilized, our staff worked diligently to identify a permanent housing option that would support his long-term success. Through persistence, collaboration, and Henry’s resilience, he was accepted into a Tiny Home community — a major step toward independence and a fresh start.
Today, Henry is thriving in the safety and comfort of a permanent home he can finally call his own. His journey is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when someone receives compassionate care, practical support, and a team that refuses to give up.
